LETHBRIDGE - A major land sale by the city to a Calgary based developer is another step
towards significant development in West Lethbridge.
City Council approved
the $33.8-million sale of more than 66-acres of land in Crossings to Royop
Developments Limited on Monday afternoon.
The company will now lead the
work on a core service area adjacent to Chinook High School and the public
As for what will be included, VP of Development and Leasing
Jeromy Thal expects it will have things like "grocery, drug stores, you will see
some large format retailers, some mid size format retailers, we've been in talks
with hotels, we've been in talks with seniors facilities, more different types
of residential product, restaurants."
Thal adds they expect to apply for the first phase development permit this
fall and start construction next spring. The whole development will take place
in stages over the next 10 years.
