STANDOFF- Blood Tribe police want to speak to anyone who may have seen a dangerous incident Saturday afternoon around 12:30.
That afternoon a woman called police saying she had been tail-gated and nearly run off the road by a "big rig" semi truck on Highway 2 North of Standoff. She explained that she then pulled her car over and waved down the driver of the semi truck. The driver initially stopped, but was then observed to accelerate and narrowly miss the woman.
Just a few minutes later police arrived on the scene and arrested the driver of the truck.
55-year old Melvin Doug Smith of Lethbridge faces one count of dangerous driving and will appear in Cardston Provincial Court in early March.
Again if you witnessed the incident you're asked to call Blood Tribe police at 737-3800 or email Constable Hadiga Little Wolf at hadiga.littlewolf@bloodtribepolice.com.
