It’s been talked about in the past, but Sweden has adopted a new workday style compared to what we are used to here in Canada. A couple years ago, they decided to change from an 8 hour work day down to 6. Why? After taking a look at how much work was done in both amounts of time, they realized that workers were getting the same amount done in 6 hours as they were in 8 along with increased productivity. One benefit from also working a couple hours shorter, is that those that have kids, now have more time to spend with their families at the end of the day and before their children go to bed. Would it be beneficial to decrease the number of hours you work in the day? Without a doubt. Should Canada opt to change from 8 hour work days to 6? I think so.
