When would you say is the most dangerous time of year to be driving? Maybe winter? Due to the fact there’s snow on roads and that can affect driving. Maybe Spring as everything is melting after the winter? Well, both would be good guesses, but August is actually the most dangerous month of the year to be driving.
Over the last four years across the States, stats have been taken about driving and accidents on the road, and in the month of August, almost 70,000 accidents have occurred which is more than any other month. To go along with that, just under 16,000 people have been killed in driving accidents in the span of five years.
So what day is the most dangerous day to be on the road then? Very early in the month. August 2 has been declared the most dangerous driving day. Over five years, just over 500 fatalities happened on that day across the US.
What is the reasoning behind August being the most dangerous month? Well, it’s hard to pin point exactly why, but lots of different driving acts have been the cause of dangerous driving.
Many will be on the roads throughout this month, so just remember to stay safe on the roads, keep calm and be courteous of other drivers on the road.
